Blood products are also known as plasma derivatives. It refer to therapeutic products derived from human blood or plasma, which are extracted from healthy human blood by biological processes such as separation, purification and virus inactivation or prepared by other purification technologies. They are biologically active preparations for clinical emergency and diagnosis. According to different functions, blood products are mainly divided into three categories: blood coagulation factor, albumin and immunoglobulin. The blood products industry will further develop rapidly with the introduction of new therapeutic applications and increasing market demand. It means new process challenges, such as increasing production yield while ensuring the safety of product and robustness of the process, and meeting the growing regulatory requirements.
